In this course, you will improve your university-level writing, critical reading, and classroom discussion skills so you can fully participate in university classes. You will practice relating your ideas to other students’ ideas in discussions and linking ideas in written arguments. You will also practice basic research skills and become familiar with a range of typical academic writing tasks. You will improve your listening comprehension and notetaking skills and increase your active academic vocabulary. In addition to interacting in class, you will complete online reading practice and self-study to review classroom material.

Introduction to Undergraduate Academic Writing
In this course, you will develop your academic writing skills so you are prepared for first-year university courses. You will learn how to combine ideas that you have read about or experienced into academic essays. You will also increase your ability to create summary-response writing, as well as learn how to write for timed essay exams.
Introduction to Undergraduate Academic Writing
This intensive course is designed to develop students’ academic writing skills in preparation for first-year university courses. The course combines student-centered, communicative activities with writing practice and online self-study that reviews and expands on the classroom material. Students develop their ability to incorporate ideas that they have either read about or experienced into academic essays. Students will also increase their competence in academic summary-response and narrative writing, as well as in taking timed essay exams.
