In this course, you will learn conversation skills that will help you participate more in classroom discussions and groupwork. You will practice specific phrases and questions to ask for and give more information, support ideas with examples, and build on other students’ ideas. You will also learn to help facilitate discussions, keeping the focus on a topic and paraphrasing and synthesizing new ideas as they are developed. You will analyze radio interviews and short articles, and then offer and support your viewpoint while applying various conversation skills. You will practice stating and then revising your ideas so you can build arguments for academic discussions.
