Classroom culture and expectations in U.S. universities can be mystifying to international students, making them uncertain about how to best participate or frustrated by negative assessments of their competence. This workshop orients students to typical unspoken rules for participation in U.S. educational settings and provides space for discussion and analysis of how these differ from students’ educational training and how they can adapt for academic success. Students also learn strategies for communicating with peers in class.
