Duration
1 hr/week, 8-12 weeks
In this semester-long course, students will explore topics related to globalization, global issues, and global competency as they develop their understanding of individuals from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. As they consider their own perspectives and biases as global citizens, they will improve their ability to communicate across cultures and build the intercultural relationships necessary to support global problem solving. Students will explore topics such as intercultural communication, multiculturalism, gender inequality, human rights, and sustainability as they learn more about the world and how local, regional, and national issues connect to overarching global conversations. By investigating and engaging with global topics, students will develop global knowledge and acumen regarding world issues and a deep understanding of social justice. Students who complete the course receive a Global Citizenship Certificate endorsed by the U.N. Charter institution, University for Peace.
