The U.S. health care system is complex. Health care in the U.S. is not managed by the government, and individuals must buy health insurance plans from private companies. This workshop will introduce you to the U.S. health care system and health insurance. You will learn about the types of health care providers you can visit to get care and how health insurance helps cover the costs for care. You will also learn key vocabulary related to health insurance—claim, premium, deductible, in- and out-of-network, co-insurance, and co-pay—so that you can understand how payments work. Finally, you will explore some strategies for getting health care in an affordable way.
