In this course, which is designed for international graduate students, you will gain the leadership and professional skills you need for your career after you complete your studies. You will discuss global citizenship as a way to examine various aspects of the complex, globalized world of the 21st century. Through interactive discussions, you will explore the unique challenges of our time and the forces that shape them and consider how you can take action to improve conditions locally and/or globally. You will learn how cultural and social identity, bias, discrimination, and inequality shape perspectives, including your own, and explore cultural diversity and the challenges of intercultural communication both outside and within the workplace. You will also gain awareness of the work culture in the United States and learn how to present yourself professionally in interviews. You will develop job search tools, such as a LinkedIn profile, resume and cover letter, and practice tailoring these to job postings.
