In this workshop, students learn the “secret” to making American friends by learning about cross-cultural differences in social and relationship expectations. In particular, students learn conversation strategies, how to show interest in others, and ways to connect with domestic students to build relationships. Additionally, students explore types of extra-curricular activities available on university campuses that offer the best opportunities to meet people. Students gain ideas for developing their social skills and reaching across cultures to find commonalities with their peers.
